Astronomy 

Scarborough and Ryedale Astronomical Society  The Scarborough and District Astronomical Society was founded in 1976 by John Harper F.R.A.S., its President. One of the chief aims of our Society is the promotion of astronomy within the community.
Stellarium  Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like you would see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.
 

Birds 

Birds of Denmark  A Scandinavian bird site.  Features photos of many birds which you may also see in England.
Gulls in the West Midlands This site presents data and images relating to gulls, primarily in the West Midlands Region.  The status of the commoner species is summarised, for scarcer species detailed analyses of annual, seasonal and geographical distributions are presented, while for the truly rare species all records are tabulated.
Portland Bird Observatory  A bird observatory in Dorset where you can check for migrants arriving in the South of England (hopefully before they move north to us).
 

Maps 

Magic (Multi-Agency Geographic Information for the Countryside)  The first web-based interactive map to bring together geographic information on key environmental schemes and designations in one place.
old-maps.co.uk  Providing access to Britain's most extensive digital historical map archive. Find out where your ancestors used to live or check out what your neighbourhood looked like over a hundred years ago.
