Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary

The Sea Life Centre at Scarborough is both a popular attraction for tourists who are visiting the area, and a regular destination for locals too.  It is open all year round, and because it is constantly changing, it is always worth a visit - just remember to wrap up warm if you are visiting on a cold day, as some parts of the centre are outdoors.  Kids love seeing the creatures up-close, so it makes a great family day out, with lots to see and do.

From a wildlife point of view, you will get great views of animals like Seals, Otters and Penguins as well as many of the underwater creatures that would normally be hidden beneath the waves.  There are local species among the exhibits as well as some from more exotic locations.  Many of the exhibits have signs and notices to tell you a bit about the species you are looking at, making it an educational trip if you take the time to read them.
